How do I measure my finger size?

How do I measure my finger size?

Finger size can change depending on the body's water balance, so we do not recommend measuring ring size when it fluctuates. When does this happen?
In the morning and evening
In the morning, there may still be some overnight swelling, and by the evening, the fingers are already swollen. The best time to try on a ring is in the middle of the day.
In heat or cold
Warm air causes fingers to swell, while cold makes them thinner.
It’s best to avoid measuring after a workout, during stress, on critical days, or when you're sick.
What else should you consider:
1. The size of the same finger on the right and left hand can differ, so it's important to measure the exact finger for which you're choosing the ring.
2. Ring width:
  • For rings up to 5 mm wide, choose the standard size.
  • For rings 6-8 mm wide, we recommend adding 0.3 to the standard size. For example, instead of 18, choose 18.3 (but let us know you've already accounted for the ring width).
  • For rings 9-12 mm wide, it's better to choose half a size larger.
Important: A narrow ring should fit snugly over the knuckle to prevent slipping, while a wider ring should easily pass over the knuckle without pressing, as it may become difficult to remove in the morning due to swelling.
In Ukrainian jewelry stores, the standard sizes of gold rings from domestic manufacturers range between 15 and 23, with increments of 0.5 mm. The most common women’s sizes are: 16, 16.5, 17, 17.5, and 18, while for men, the most common are 20, 20.5, 21, 21.5, and 22. However, we are all unique, so we can make any intermediate size for you, like 16.1 or 17.7.
In Ukraine, ring size is determined by the inner diameter, while in Europe, it is determined by the length of the inner circumference. To convert a Ukrainian size to a European one, multiply it by 3.14 (Pi). For reverse conversion, divide the European size by 3.14. However, this method is purely mathematical and does not account for individual finger characteristics, ring width, or the material from which it is made.

The European system is used in many countries, but in the USA and Canada, a 16-size scale is used, in Japan – 27 sizes, and in England, sizes are denoted by letters.

How to Determine Your Ring Size at Home:

  1. Using the Ring Sizer App
    Take a ring that fits you and place it on your smartphone screen, selecting the matching diameter of the ring's inner circle.

  2. Special Ring Sizing Belt
    You can order a ring sizing belt if you can't visit a jewelry store. The belt works like an adjustable strap, showing the size in the European system. Simply send us a photo or the value you got, and we will convert it to the required size.

  3. Measuring a Ring with Calipers
    Measure the inner diameter of a ring that fits you using calipers.

  4. The Pencil Tracing Method
    Trace the inner part of a ring on a piece of paper with a very sharp pencil and measure the inner diameter in millimeters – that is your size.

  5. Determining Size Based on Clothing Size
    If it's difficult to determine your exact size, try correlating it with your clothing size. Although this method is not precise, here are the approximate equivalents:
    • XS: 15.5-16.5
    • S/M: 16-17
    • M: 16.5-17.5
    • L: 17.5-18.5
    • XL: 18.5-20

  6. Ring Sizer in a Jewelry Store
    Visit any jewelry store to measure your finger size using a metal ring sizer. It's best to measure several times throughout the day for an accurate result. This method gives the size for a thin ring. If ordering a wide ring, let us know the method of measurement, and we will adjust for the width of the ring.

Care & Storage

We have compiled a list of the most important recommendations to help your rings, earrings, bracelets, and other jewelry last as long as possible:

  • It is useful to wash jewelry in soapy water once a week to remove accumulated dust and grease. However, do this gently, without applying force. If you wear jewelry without removing it, dirt accumulates in contact areas with the skin, leading to oxidation of both silver and gold.
  • Remove jewelry at night to protect yourself from injuries and prevent deformation of the jewelry.
  • Store jewelry in a clean and separate manner. Each ring, pendant, or bracelet should have its own compartment, pouch, or box.
  • Avoid contact with chemical substances, as silver may tarnish, develop stains, or enamel may be damaged.
  • Avoid lifting weights, washing dishes, or picking up pebbles on the beach if you have rings on your fingers. Don't forget about any other physical work. Everything can cause deformation and scratches.
  • Periodically take your jewelry for cleaning or surface renewal.

Jewelry with enamel differs from other products not only in original design but also in specific care.

To preserve the initial brightness and integrity of the enamel, it is necessary to remember:

  • Enamel is a coating of a thin layer of quartz glass or polymer, so it is sensitive to mechanical influences. Impacts on the enamel can cause chips and cracks.
  • Protect jewelry with enamel from direct sunlight and temperature changes. Otherwise, the coating may lose its brightness or develop cracks.
  • It is important to avoid contact between enamel and acids, alkalis, and chlorine, i.e., with any cleaning agents, powders, and cleaning gels. Enamel can also be damaged by interaction with cosmetics (creams, lotions) and seawater.

Material difference

I work with:

  • Red, yellow, and white gold of 585 hallmark. It is possible to individually order jewelry made of 750 hallmark gold.
  • Silver of 925 hallmark.
  • I also use hot and enamel polymer jewelry, precious stones, and pearls.

Why it's better to buy jewelry in gold:

  • Gold is harder and more durable than silver, making gold jewelry much more long-lasting.
  • Gold does not tarnish or oxidize, unlike silver.
  • Gold retains a larger portion of the jewelry's value in the metal itself.

I would like to note that gold, especially white gold, is stronger and harder than silver. Therefore, from a practical standpoint, it is better and more suitable for items like rings and jewelry that you would like to pass down as heirlooms.

After-sales service

I am 100% confident in the quality of each product from DARI jewelry and have a proposal regarding service maintenance:

For gold: indefinitely;

*The service maintenance of gold jewelry includes:

  • Cleaning surfaces from dirt;
  • Texture renewal;
  • Restoration of the enamel layer;
  • Elimination of damages not caused by the owner.

*The service maintenance of silver jewelry includes:

  • Restoration of the enamel layer.

I understand that situations vary, and for me, the main thing is that the jewelry is liked, used, and brings positive emotions to its owner. Therefore, I am ready to be flexible and accept returns or exchanges within 7 days from the date of purchase under two conditions: the presence of a tag and no signs of wear.

*Personalized and highly individualized items are not eligible for return or exchange.

**Shipping costs remain the responsibility of the customer.

Production Timelines

Practically everywhere, jewelry is produced on a conveyor-type basis – one person prepares the cast blanks, another grinds them, a third applies enamel and sets stones. As a result, the jewelry is made collectively and retains its factory appearance.

In the DARI jewelry workshop, everything is different.

Each piece is entirely crafted by an individual jeweler. This is why the master perceives the jewelry as their personal creation, takes care of it, bears responsibility, cherishes it, and puts their soul into it!

When you order jewelry here, you get not just a product but a story and value. That's why the production of an item typically takes about three weeks or more after placing the order. Of course, this excludes items that are in stock.

The duration varies depending on the complexity of the piece, the presence of enamel, gemstones, engraving, and currently, unexpected delays due to the war.

It's recommended to order engagement rings, engagement rings, gifts, or pieces for specific dates (such as departure dates) in advance. Please inform us of the exact date needed when placing the order.

Yes, the production time is quite substantial, but believe me, my jewelry is worth the wait :)
